Changes between 09/13/26 - 09/17/26

Summary

A housekeeping release. Screens have more breathing room, several pages now work properly on a phone, and email addresses are lowercased as you type them so an address never fails to match because of a stray capital letter. The public side of the site got faster to load and now shows the right title and description when you share a link to a guide, a release note, or a competition. The one rule change worth knowing: once a competition is under way, competitors can no longer be added to an event that isn't on the day's program.

System

More Breathing Room

Text was being clipped in places where the interface packed things too tightly. Until that's properly fixed, everything has been loosened a step — so you'll see more space between fields, buttons and rows across the site. This will be tightened back up once the underlying problem is resolved.

Better on a Phone

Several parts of the site have been reworked for small screens:

  • Event Detail and Round Detail have been redesigned, including the selectors you use to move between events and rounds.
  • Competition Settings is readable on a phone.

Public Pages Load Faster, and Links Preview Properly

The public pages — home, features, about, roadmap, pricing, the release notes and every guide — are now built ahead of time rather than assembled in your browser on arrival. Three things follow from that:

  • They appear faster, particularly on a phone or a slow connection.
  • Sharing a link now shows that page's own title and description. Previously a link to a guide, a release note, or a competition previewed as though it were the home page.
  • A mistyped or out-of-date address now gives a proper "page not found" instead of loading the site into an empty state.

Search engines can also now find and index individual competitions, guides and release notes, rather than seeing one page where there are hundreds.

Account

Enhancement

  • Email addresses are now converted to lowercase as you type, everywhere one is entered — signing in, signing up as a personal or studio account, resetting a password, inviting an official, sending a partnership request, and adding a managed dancer. An address typed with a capital letter no longer fails to match the one on file.

Organizer

Enhancement

  • An event that drew no entries can't take any once the competition is under way.

    Rounds are generated from the entries an event has, so an event nobody signed up for has no rounds and no place in the running order. Letting someone into it mid-competition would mean creating a round and finding it a slot after the day had already begun.

    So once a competition is in progress, an event with no entries is closed — to organizers and competitors alike. An event that does have entries stays open as normal: a new entry, whether a partnership registering or two dancers matched from the TBA queue, joins the event and its first round the way it always has.

    The point is a schedule you can trust. What's in the running order when the doors open is what runs, with no unexpected events or rounds appearing partway through the day.

    On the day, change rounds and schedule items by hand. If something does have to move once the competition has started, adjust the individual rounds and schedule items yourself rather than regenerating the whole schedule. Regenerating rebuilds the running order from scratch, which is the last thing you want with dancers already on the floor. Any round you create this way also needs its adjudicators assigned by hand — they aren't carried over. This is a delicate process: take it slowly and check each change before moving on.

  • The Create Event button is hidden once a competition is in progress, being scored, concluded, or canceled.

  • The competition website field now accepts an address starting with either http:// or https://, ignores spaces around a pasted address, and no longer rejects one where a phone keyboard capitalized the scheme.

  • Event Detail, Round Detail and Competition Settings have been redesigned (see above).

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed the Organizer Center link going to the athlete area instead of the organizer area.
  • Fixed a scheduling fault that could leave an empty slot in the running order — a round could be moved out of a heat while that heat was still recorded as having run.

Studio

Enhancement

  • The Dancers page now shows how many dancers you manage, and the Partnerships page how many partnerships you have.
  • Adding a managed dancer now confirms with a success message when it works, and no longer shows error markings on the fields while it's being submitted.
