Overview

As a Deck Captain, you take attendance for each round. Open the round from the list on the left and you will see its competitors in groups, each with their bib number and name. You use two buttons:

  • Check In marks a competitor as present and ready to dance.
  • Scratch removes a competitor who is not going to dance in this round.

A competitor who has checked in has a bright blue bib number, and the Check In button is gone from that row.

When You Can Check In and Scratch

What you can do depends on the status badge next to the round name.

Round status Check In Scratch
Queued (check-in is open, round not started) Yes Yes
In Progress (round has started) Yes No

Important: Once the round is In Progress, competitors can only be checked in. Scratching is no longer available. The line-up is final. A notice at the top of the round says so: "This round has started. Late arrivals can still be checked in, but the line-up is final."

If a round shows no buttons at all, check-in has not opened yet. The Scrutineer opens check-in by queuing the round.

How to Check In a Competitor

  1. Select the round from the list on the left.
  2. Find the competitor in their group.
  3. Press Check In.

The bib number turns blue and a "checked in" message appears. Late arrivals can still be checked in after the round has started.

How to Scratch a Competitor

  1. Make sure the round is Queued, not In Progress.
  2. Find the competitor in their group.
  3. Press Scratch.

The competitor's name is crossed out and moves to a Scratched section at the bottom of the list. The group sizes are updated to match.

A competitor can be scratched even after being checked in, as long as the round is still Queued.

Changed Your Mind?

While the round is Queued, you can bring a scratched competitor back by pressing Check In on their row in the Scratched section. This also checks the competitor in.

Note: After the round starts, a scratched competitor cannot be brought back, and no one else can be scratched. Check carefully before the round begins.

Rules and Limits

  • Check In is available while the round is Queued or In Progress.
  • Scratch is available only while the round is Queued.
  • Bringing back a scratched competitor is available only while the round is Queued.
  • A competitor who is already checked in cannot be checked in again.
