← Adjudicator Guides

Overview

As an Adjudicator, you mark each round on your own screen. Early rounds use a recall ballot, where you choose which competitors move on. The final uses a placement ballot, where you rank the competitors from first to last.

Each dance in a round has its own tab, and you submit marks for each dance separately.

Important: Marks are final once submitted. They cannot be edited or retracted.

Important: Do not go to the Previous Heat or Next Heat, or pick another heat from the list on the left, while you have marks that are not submitted. Anything you have not submitted is lost.

Recall Ballot (Quarter-Final, Semi-Final, and other non-final rounds)

The ballot has two sides. Competitors on the left lists the competitors you have not marked yet. On the right are three lists: Recall, Maybe, and No.

Each competitor has three buttons:

Button Name What it does
✓ Recall Moves the competitor to the Recall list.
? Maybe Moves the competitor to the Maybe list, so you can decide later.
✗ No Moves the competitor to the No list. The competitor is ignored.

You can change your mind at any time before you submit. Every competitor in the Recall, Maybe, and No lists has buttons to move to either of the other two lists.

Steps

  1. Select the heat from the list on the left and open the dance tab you are marking.
  2. Look at Target Recall under the Submit button. This is the exact number of competitors you must recall.
  3. Go through the competitors and press ✓, ? or ✗ for each one.
  4. Move competitors in the Maybe list to Recall or No until the Recall list has exactly the target number.
  5. Press Submit Recalls.
  6. Repeat for the next dance tab.

Note: The Submit Recalls button stays grayed out until the Recall list matches the target number. Once the Recall list is full, the ✓ buttons on the other lists are hidden. Move someone out of Recall to free up a spot.

Note: Only the competitors in the Recall list are submitted. Competitors left in Maybe are not recalled.

Placement Ballot (Final)

In the final you rank every competitor on the floor. The screen shows each competitor's number in a box on a tall board, with 1st at the top and the last place at the bottom.

Your placement is decided by how high or low a competitor sits on the board. The higher the box, the better the placement. The box at the very top is 1st place. Sideways position makes no difference.

Steps

  1. Open the dance tab you are marking.
  2. Drag each competitor's box up or down. Drag up to place higher.
  3. Check the number on each box. It shows the placement that box currently has: 1 for 1st, 2 for 2nd, and so on.
  4. When the order is exactly how you want it, press Submit Placements.
  5. Repeat for the next dance tab.

Before You Submit

  • Marks cannot be edited or retracted once submitted, so check the screen carefully first.
  • If a mistake is made, tell the Scrutineer right away. Only the Scrutineer can reset a round, and a reset clears all marks that have been submitted for that round.
  • Submit every dance tab before you leave the heat. Marks you have entered but not submitted are lost if you leave.

Note: If a message says Submission timed out, the server may not have saved your marks. Choose Submit again. If the first attempt did go through, the marks are not counted twice.

Rules and Limits

  • Each dance is submitted separately.
  • Marks are final once submitted.
  • Unsubmitted marks are lost if you go to another heat.
  • Recalls: the Recall list must hold exactly the target number before you can submit.
  • Placements: your ranking is the top-to-bottom order of the board.
